International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA) Establishes Zhongshan Center and Hosts AI-Empowered New Quality Productivity Development Forum

In the tide of globalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands as a key engine for driving the development of new quality productivity with its unique capabilities to penetrate, synergize, replace, and create. On November 23, 2024, the Alumni Association of South China University of Technology in Zhongshan successfully organized a special event themed "AI Empowerment and the Development of New Quality Productivity," with the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA) as a significant co-organizer, injecting a global perspective and opportunities for deep cooperation into the forum.

The forum commenced with an opening address by Qiu Wenlong, President of the Zhongshan Alumni Association of South China University of Technology. He emphasized the pivotal role of AI empowerment in the development of new quality productivity and the forum's aim to build a high-end dialogue platform for industry leaders to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and explore innovative paths for AI integration with industries, enhancing competitiveness. Lin Weiqiang, Director of the Zhongshan Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, shared insights on the city's AI technology application and industrial development plans, highlighting Zhongshan's acceleration in applying AI in smart manufacturing, smart cities, and public services to build a competitive AI industry cluster. Mai Junhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of South China University of Technology and Executive Vice President of the Alumni Association, highly praised the forum, recognizing its showcase of alumni achievements in technological innovation and industrial application and its promotion of alumni exchange and cooperation, building a valuable platform for industry-academia-research integration.

During the keynote speeches, AIIA's academicians and expert members shared their latest research findings and industry insights in fields such as intelligent manufacturing, new materials, and digital infrastructure. Academician Zhang Liangchi, a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, discussed innovative applications of reverse design in intelligent manufacturing, revealing how reverse engineering can optimize product design and combine with active control technology to achieve highly automated and intelligent production processes. Academician Zhang Bi, a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering and a tenured professor at the University of Connecticut, focused on ultra-high-speed processing technology for new materials, presenting the latest equipment and processes that significantly improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure precision. Academician Liu Xiangyang, a fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Chief Information Security Officer at Midea Group, proposed a vision for a globally unified digital infrastructure, emphasizing the key role of AI in achieving data interconnectivity, optimizing resource allocation, and promoting industrial collaboration.

The roundtable forum, themed "Building Global Competitiveness: How Enterprises Can Leverage AI for Cross-Border Integration, Innovation, and Going Global," featured discussions with Academicians Zhang Liangchi, Zhang Bi, Liu Xiangyang, General Manager Xiao Renjun, and Chairman Lu Chuping. The session was moderated by Professor Li Zhi, Executive Vice Chairman of AIIA and a dual-appointed professor at Zhejiang University and Guangdong University of Technology, who stressed the importance of AI empowerment in the development of new quality productivity and the forum's commitment to fostering high-end dialogue and knowledge sharing among entrepreneurs.

The highlight of the conference was the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the Zhongshan Alumni Association of South China University of Technology and AIIA, marking a new starting point and a significant milestone in their cooperative journey. AIIA, as a global non-profit organization, is dedicated to promoting the rapid development of the global AI industry. The alliance has gathered over 800 academicians/fellows, more than 3000 scientists, 106 social organizations, over 200 high-tech enterprises, 22 academic/research institutions, 66 investment and financing institutions, and 9 consulting agencies to accelerate the innovative application of AI technology across industries.

This collaboration will lead to in-depth cooperation between the Zhongshan Alumni Association and AIIA in technology research and development, project incubation, and market expansion. Both parties will bring together global well-known enterprise, universities, government agencies, and professional talents in the AI field to explore the application of AI technology in various industries, promote enterprise development and industrial upgrading, and embark on a new chapter of mutually beneficial and collaborative development.
