Industry Alliance (AIIA) is proud to announce its key partnership with the HongKong Institute of AI for Science (HKAI-Sci) at the City University of Hong Kong(CityU). As a vital collaborator, AIIA will support HKAI-Sci in its mission to establish a premier research environment that promotes interdisciplinary integration of science and AI. This collaborative environment is designed to seamlessly integrate science and AI, nurture deep-tech startups, and drive innovation in partnership with industry, government, and academia. The collaboration includes esteemed partners such as Bosh Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Hong Kong Innovation Institute, and TrioAl, signifying a robust network of support for HKAI-Sci.
The partnership will span multiple dimensions, including:
· Joint Research Collaboration Platforms: Establishing a venues for collaborative research initiatives, fostering an environment conducive to the free exchange and development of ideas.
· Academic Forums in Specialized Fields: Organizing forums focused onspecific AI domains, offering a platform for experts to discuss and share the latest advancements and trends.
· Commercialization of Scientific Achievements: Partnering to convert research outcomes into tangible applications, stimulating economic growth, and bolstering competitiveness.
· Cultivation of TechTalent: Jointly developing educational programs to groom the next generation of AI specialists, equipping them with industry-relevant skills.

The establishment of HKAI-Sci by CityU is a testament to the institution's commitment to scientific research and technological innovation, marking another pivotal milestone in their pursuit of excellence. Distinguished scientist and academician Professor Tobin J. Marks fromNorthwestern University expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, notingthat it will unleash AI's full potential in scientific research. Professor WangJianping, Dean of CityU's School of Computer Science and President of AIIA'sHong Kong Chapter, highlighted the alliance's role in catalyzing scientific innovation and industrial development.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Undersecretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Ms. Zhang Manli, attended the establishment ceremony, along with CityU's President, Professor Mei Yanchang,witnessing the signing of cooperative agreements with partners. This aligns with the government's vision to establish a comprehensive AI ecosystem in HongKong and demonstrates the strategic importance of HKAI-Sci in this endeavor.
Incoming Dean of HKAI-Sci, Professor Ma Weiying, emphasized the role of AI in addressing the complex challenges faced by humanity, stating that HKAI-Sci will foster an open and inclusive research environment, encourage innovative thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration, and support cutting-edge research.
